Summer Reading Program 2024

June 10 - July 20

The community is invited to join our Summer Reading Program, which runs June 10 through July 20. Children and teens may visit the library for a chance to spin the prize wheel and collect a new Brag Tag each week! Play Book Bingo to earn adventure passes or free books!  Free, fun activities and programs for whole family run throughout the summer. Signing up for our Summer Reading Program is easy -- simply drop by the library to pick up a registration folder.

Adult Summer Reading Program

The library’s summer reading program is not just for kids! Adults may participate by reading books and filling out an entry form for each book read to win prizes. One book = one entry. Plus, attend adult library programs for extra entries! There will be semiweekly prize drawings for gift certificates to local businesses. Special thanks to The Book Teller, Whitewater Cinemas, Kwik Trip, Culvers, Center Street Cafe, and Rocky Rococo Pizza for their sponsorship. All entries will be entered into our grand prize drawing for a Kindle Fire!

Thousand-Miler Author Visit
Tuesday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Melanie Radzicki McManus, author of the memoir Thousand-Miler: Adventures Hiking the Ice Age Trail (Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2017), will talk about her record-setting trek along the 1,100-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail. She will also speak about the history of the National Scenic Trail system and how the Ice Age Trail came into being.

Homebuyer Workshop with Associated Bank
Tuesday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m.

Understanding what credit is and how to build it so that you are home-buyer ready is crucial for a transition from renting to owning. In this one-hour session with Associated Bank, you will be learn what credit is, how to build it, and the step by step process of buying a home.

Genealogy 101
Thursday, June 20 at 1:00 p.m.

Join Karen Weston to explore resources and databases for researching your family history and genealogy.

Let's Explore Walworth County's Historical Places
Wednesday, June 26 at 5:30 p.m.

Join Michael Rehberg, lead interpreter at Black Point Estate and Gardens, to explore outstanding historical buildings around our area and discover which ones you can visit and which ones are private. 

Protecting Against Identity Theft & Scams
Thursday, June 27 at 1:00 p.m.

Prevention is the first step in minimizing your risk for identity theft and falling victim to a scam. In this one-hour session with Associated Bank, you will learn guidelines to proactively protect your identity as well as recognize common scams and fraud attempts.

House Plant Swap
Week of July 8

Take a plant/leave a plant all week at the library. Bring healthy plants rooted in dirt or cuttings (in a container), drop them off, and go home with a new plant baby!
