Makerspace

The library has a Makerspace available for public use. There are a variety of tools, materials, and equipment to use for free.

Anyone age 11 and older may use the Makerspace anytime the library is open. The only requirement is that you clean up after yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Makerspace is a dedicated space in the library that is similar to an art studio. It can be used for art, making, and projects using technology. It is filled with items that are free for the public to use!

The Makerspace is open when the library is open, but it closes 30 minutes before the library.

Everyone is welcome to use the Makerspace. If you are under age 11, adult supervision is required. There are other maker activities available in the children’s area of the library as well.

The only equipment that requires training is the 3D printer and the Cricut Maker. You may make a training appointment by contacting the Makerspace Librarian.

Most things are available to use for free, however there are some costs (listed below).

  • 3D Printer: first print free then 20 cents per gram. 
  • Laminator: 15 cents per pouch
  • Button maker: small 10 cents, large 25 cents each

Analog-to-Digital Conversion services are free if you do them yourself. However, full service is available for a fee. Contact the Makerspace Librarian for more information and/or a quote.

We also have storage devices available for purchase:  

  • SD Cards: $8 each (ask at front desk)
  • USB drives: $3 each (ask at front desk)
  • Blank CDs or DVDs: 50 cents each (ask Makerspace Librarian)

Yes, you can reserve the 3D printer, Cricut, and sewing machine for up to two-hour increments.

Yes, we often run library programs related to creating, making, technology, STEAM, and more. Visit the library’s calendar to see what programs, workshops, and open studios are coming up!

Yes, we accept and appreciate donations. However, we cannot accept everything due to limited storage space. Please contact the Makerspace Librarian if you have a donation for us.

There is not always a library staff member present in the Makerspace. However, video surveillance is in place. Makerspace users must follow the posted guidelines and all library policies. Most importantly, users should respect the space, respect others, and clean up after themselves. Please inform a library staff member immediately if there is a problem in the Makerspace.
