1000 Books before Kindergarten
1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a free program offered by the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library that invites caregivers and children to share books every day. Research shows that the more children are read to before entering school the more ready they are to learn once they get there. Not only will reading to your child every day help them learn but it provides you with a fun, free activity that the entire family can enjoy.
If you have a child between the ages of birth to five years and would like to participate, please register at the circulation desk during regular library hours. Participants receive a sticker for every level they complete. In addition, they receive a library bag when they reach the 500 book milestone and a forever book upon completion of the program.
Be sure to like our Youth Services page on Facebook to learn about the many fun things we have at our library for children and teens!
